Pumpkin Club at The Thorold

The Marston Annual Pumpkin Weigh-in will be held this Saturday, 26th October.
Weigh-in for the heaviest pumpkin will be between 10:30 and 12:30 in the Thorold garden. If wet we will go inside.
Winners will be announced at 12:45. Pumpkin soup will be served during the weigh-in and The Thorold bar will be open serving 'Pub Grub' from noon. There will be a raffle to raise money for the church. Winners will be announced after the prize giving. (Donations for Raffle prizes gratefully received.) There will be the usual prize for heaviest (1st Bunny Cup and 2nd Titch Trophy). However, since it has been a bad year for pumpkin growing we are inviting entries of squashes and gourdes for Prettiest and Best Pair. Can we ask previous prize winners to return their trophies prior to the day. Trophies and raffle prizes can be left behind the bar or at the shop. See you all Saturday.

Annual Members Meeting

This year's Annual Members Meeting (AMM) will be held on Sunday, 29th September 2024 at 5pm in The Thorold. Annual Accounts are available at the Financial Conduct Authority.

There will be an election for members of the Management Committee. There is a maximum of 12 members and we are keen for new blood to join. In particular, we need the following competences: hospitality buying, marketing, website maintenance, HR, and administrative skills. We also need people with practical skills who can help with some of the day to day maintenance of the building or to help deliver our social inclusion goals. However, the main requirements are for enthusiasm, some time, flexibility, and drive to ensure that our business can thrive and be the Community Hub our villagers want. Only members of The Thorold Arms CBS (i.e. shareholders) are eligible for election but the share offer remains open for anyone wanting to be a shareholder. The share prospectus and application form are downloadable here.

Please send share applications, nominations, or nominate yourself, to Sandra Allen (sandra@thethorold.co.uk) by 23 September 2024. The nomination should include a short biography to help people understand who you are.
